The Hayes community is saddened by the passing of Monsignor Joseph Ansaldi. As a devoted educator, mentor, and priest, Monsignor Ansaldi touched the lives of many who knew him.
He was known as a fair and dedicated administrator who worked hard to make Catholic education more affordable for families.
At the time of his death, he was Principal of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School in Staten Island where he spent 27 years in service. From 1963 to 1978, Monsignor Ansaldi was a history teacher at Cardinal Hayes High School. In 1990, he was named Monsignor by Pope John Paul, II. The following year, Cardinal John J. O’Connor named him co-vicar for Staten Island. Monsignor is survived by his siblings and several nieces and nephews.
